Alistair Ruadh MacDonell, 13th Chief of Glengarry was a staunch Jacobite at the time of the 1745 uprising and a key figure in raising the Scottish clans in support of Charles Stuart. After his release from prison in 1747, MacDonell turned his back on the Stuarts and became an agent for the House of Hanover – the infamous ‘Pickle The Spy’.
