Mr H.P. MacKeen, Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia in November 1964, presented two 1000 dollar cheques to the National Trust for Scotland’s fund for the Nova Scotia Commemoration Room in Menstrie Castle.
The cheques were from the Provincial Government of Nova Scotia and the North British Society of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Menstrie Castle, the birthplace of Sir William Alexander, 1st Earl of Stirling, the founder of Nova Scotia, was recently restored by the County Council of Clackmannan. They reserved space in the building to perpetuate the link between Scotland and Nova Scotia and contributions to the fund have been made from both sides of the Atlantic.
