His only son Donald Macdonald died 1851 aged 64 years and 3 of their grandchildren: James died in infancy. Donald who died in Kansas USA 1867. Alexander who died at Redcastle Killearnan in 1870 and Jane Macdonald wife of Donald Macdonald died at Inverness 1894 aged 86 years.
